Subsea 7 Chooses BlueView For New AIV Acoustic Imaging Systems

SEATTLE, Wash.

Subsea 7, one of the world's leading subsea engineering and construction companies, has chosen BlueView Technologies to provide an acoustic imaging system for its new line of autonomous inspection vehicles (AIVs).

Under this agreement, BlueView will deliver both forward looking navigation and tracking sonar as well as ultra-high resolution MicroBathymetry sonar for three dimensional tracking and mapping of pipelines.

Jim Jamieson, Subsea 7 AIV project team leader, commented, "BlueView's extensive experience with ROV and AUV acoustic imaging systems and their demonstrated ability to quickly deliver exactly the solution we need were important factors in our decision."

"The deployment of autonomous systems is growing within the offshore oil and gas industry and BlueView is uniquely poised to meet the new challenges," said Lee Thompson, BlueView Technologies CEO/CTO. “We are very excited to be selected by Subsea 7 and their AIV project dovetails nicely with our current work with ultra deepwater systems focused on developing next-generation acoustic inspection capabilities for pipelines and subsea structures based on our laser-like acoustic MicroBathymetry systems.”

BlueView has been delivering forward looking and MicroBathymetry systems to the U.S. Navy's AUV programs for over five years. With more than 45 fielded AUV systems BlueView has developed a reputation for delivering compact, low-power systems that exceed customer needs.

BlueView Technologies, Inc. provides state-of-the-art compact imaging sonar solutions for navy, offshore oil and gas, offshore and inshore engineering, department of transportation and port security applications worldwide.

Subsea 7 is one of the world's leading subsea engineering and construction companies. With a focus on the deepwater subsea umbilical, riser and flowline markets in Africa, Asia Pacific, Brazil and the Gulf of Mexico, it also retains a leading role in the North Sea.
