CCS Corporation marked another chapter in its 25-year history when Dave Werklund founder and chairman of the board, handed over the reins to former Paradigm president John Gibson.
“I am excited about John joining the CCS team,” said Dave Werklund. “John has more than 25 years of experience leading organizations in the global energy industry. He was president of Halliburton Energy Services and, most recently, president and chief executive officer for Paradigm, a software solutions provider to the oil and gas industry.
“With his industry experience, customer focus, leadership style and people-first approach to business, John will be able to take our company to new levels of success. His unique background as a customer and service provider brings a multi-dimensional perspective to our business. In my role as chairman, I look forward to working closely with John and playing an active role in the continued growth of the company I started more than 25 years ago.”
Gibson is equally excited about the opportunities ahead for CCS and the chance to work closely with Dave Werklund.
“This is a unique organization and the opportunities I see for our diverse service offerings is one of the many reasons I accepted this role,” said the incoming president and CEO. “I spent a third of my career as a customer on the exploration and production side of the industry working for Chevron. I spent the next third of my career as an oilfield service provider. And, now, with CCS, I want to spend the last third of my career bringing environmental solutions to our industry – a personal passion of mine.”
In addition to Gibson’s oilfield experience, his background in technology integration will be a valuable asset for CCS Corporation. Most recently, he was president and chief executive officer for Paradigm, a software solutions provider that creates digital models of the earth’s subsurface to enable customers to make intelligent and responsible exploration, production and engineering decisions.
Werklund recognized a need over 25 years ago and took CCS Midstream Services from a small oilfield service company based in northern Alberta to the industry leader it is today with 55 facilities across North America. From a one-rig operation in 1979, Concord Well Servicing is now the fourth largest well servicing company in Canada. HAZCO, which was acquired in 2004, complements operations with environmental project management, integrated remediation, waste management and decommissioning solutions. Based in Calgary, CCS Corporation employs nearly 2,600 people throughout its many business units.
In 2006, Werklund founded the Werklund Foundation to fulfill his lifelong commitment to preparing today’s youth for becoming tomorrow’s leaders. Specifically, the Werklund Foundation is committed to supporting initiatives that facilitate the development of self-esteem, self-worth and emotional intelligence through world-class leadership training.
